I bought this kit a couple of weeks ago and have used it a few times so I could form a good opinion on it. Upon first impression, the packaging is gorgeous! The only thing that would worry me is if I had grubby fingers and left marks on the white packaging, but so far so good haha. The Pur Minerals website describes the product as “Their best sellers kit, filled with everything you need to get that natural, picture perfect look in a flash.” So what does it include? 8 limited edition eyeshadows, 5 matte and 3 shimmers, a mineral glow bronzer (some shimmer), a blush (some shimmer), an illuminating powder and their #1 selling mascara and lip gloss. I absolutely love products that include extra things like bronzers and highlighters, so to have mascara and lip gloss in there as well was a huge selling point for me. The product retails for $39 ($125 value), and you can purchase it at Ulta or from the Pur Minerals website.
The names of the eyeshadows are photography-based, which cleverly matches the theme of the palette, and are very pigmented and blendable. I had no trouble creating different looks (for day and night) with the colours, so I found it very easy to work with. However, the kit does comes with a card insert to help you create a couple of looks if you are stuck. I didn’t experience too much fallout/kick-up from most of the eyeshadows, apart from the shade photobomb, so just be careful with that one. Also, I want to point out that I did not experience any irritation to my oh-so sensitive eyes. So major positive there!
As for the bronzer it comes with, the colour was a bit to “orangey” for my skin tone, so I just used that shade as an extra eyeshadow, and stuck to my Aesthetica contour kit or the Benefit Hoola bronzer for my contouring. The highlighter shade is subtle, yet still beautiful. It isn’t so “out there” like the Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighters, so you can create a more subtle look for the day and build it up at night if you wish.
The lip gloss was a bit too light for me to wear on its own, so I would pair it up with a darker lip liner then put the lip gloss over that, but that’s just my personal preference. As for the mascara, I wasn’t expecting too much from it and am very picky when it comes to mascaras, but I was pleasantly surprised and actually love it! It would be something that I would purchase on its own in the full size. There is a tiny bit of flaking when applying it, but what won me over was that it didn’t irritate my eyes, and after hours of wear it didn’t give me panda eyes. I experience this so much with mascaras and I don’t know why. Maybe my face is too oily or something but even when I use setting powder it can still happen! If you have any tips for this please let me know! Back to the mascara, it is also very easy to apply and buildable for more volume and length. So big win there!
Final verdict – love it! It’s easy to use, mirror is a great size, has almost everything you need in one, it’s travel-friendly, can use it for work for a day time look, or at night for a more dramatic look, and the packaging is so cute. I think it’s a great price for what you get and would definitely recommend. I also want to point out that Pur Minerals is cruelty-free, free of chemical fragrances and the majority of their products are paraben-free, gluten-free and vegan friendly (including the Love Your Selfie kit).
Also, sorry for the quality of pics guys, it has been overcast here in Orlando for last few days so lighting has NOT been on my side, and I really wanted to get this post up! 🙁 So tell me, do you own this palette? What are your thoughts on it? If you have any questions for me, feel free to comment down below. Thanks for reading!
